Sail and Trekking on the Sicily and Aeolian volcanos combines the sailing and the ascents of the 2 famous Sicily active volcanos, in a unique environment, the Mediterranean Sea. The great sailing, the wonderful volcanos ascents, the local wine and food will leave you an unforgettable experience.
A fantastic opportunity and a great adventure, in the wilderness and in the nature. We sail around Sicily coast, stopping over in the most enchanting bays of the Aeolien Islands, to enjoying the wonderful Mediterranean sea.
The Aeolian Islands bring all the magic and mythological charm already in their name: they are the islands of the Aeolian, the Lord of the Winds, Aeolus. Traveling by a sailing boat, moved by the wind, will make you live deeply the fantasy, the nature and the history of this land. The guided hikes, take you to discover the Stromboli (924 m) volcano.
The airport of Catania and Palermo have regular flights from most european cities.
In the Sail and Trekking on the Sicily and Aeolian volcanos program, you will see really close the Stromboli explosion. From the summits of the volcano you will enjoy amazing views towards the Mediterranean sea. At the end you will discover the authentic and traditional flavors of Sicily, with a special consideration for its fine wine.
During the day we will discover the islands through some easy trekking and every evening we will reach our boat, to be able to sleep in on our comfortable cabins. The great sailing, the bays for our hike sessions, the local food will make you leaving an amazing adventure that you won’t easily forget.
Local safety regulations and laws allow to the summit areas of the volcanos only under the leading of registered mountain guides or volcano guides.
Depending on the sea, on the weather condition and on the volcanos safety condition, the program can be changed in any moment.
The Aeolian treks are light and do not involve any technical scrambling or climbing. You will walk an average 3-4 hours each day. All your personal equipment will be staying on the boat. You will hike just with a small backpack. If you will be tired, there is the option to stay on the sailing boat and just enjoy the sea. No previous sailing knowledge is need it.
Equipment needed for the volcano summit days: trekking boots, sunglasses, 15-20 liter backpack, hat, sunscreen, one pair of gloves, water bottle, wind jacket, down jacket or similar, poles, gaters. Helmet is obligatory on the volcano summits.
Group of minimum 6 the budget is €1560. The maximum number of participants in 8.
Flight to Catania or Palermo. Transfer to Capo d'Orlando.

Sailing day to our first island called Vulcano. Ones we reached the island, we climb to the summit, visit the fumaroles and tour the crater ring. The descend is through the pyroclastic deposits (volcanic ash), after which we visit the mud baths and bathe in the sulphurous waters.
Departure for Lipari, passing by the Faraglioni, two large rocks that rise from the sea in the southern part of the island. We will find splendid trekking along the cliffs and bays of the island. We will spend the night on the boat near the city center.
We will continue the cruise sailing towards Panarea where we will anchor for a magical night at anchor in the south of the island, at Cala Zimmari. With the dinghy - tender it will be possible to go ashore to visit the adjacent Cala Yunco, a place of archaeological interest and for an excursion to Punta del Corvo (421m). Evening visit to the characteristic village. Overnight stay in the bay.
We will set sail to head towards Stromboli. We will have the opportunity to pass by the islets of Basiluzzo and Lisca Bianca. In the early afternoon we will arrive in Stromboli not far from the characteristic village for its white houses, where an evening trek on the volcano will be almost obligatory, accompanied by the alpine-volcanological guide, to admire its fantastic explosions from the edge of the Sciara del Fuoco. Overnight stay near the island of Stromboli and Strombolicchio.
After breakfast, from Stromboli we will head towards Salina, admiring the volcano from the north side. We will anchor and disembark for a short excursion and to visit the characteristic village of Santa Marina. From Salina in the afternoon we will head towards Lipari, sailing in the crystalline waters, possibly under sail and we will arrive in the evening at Capo d'Orlando.

Trekking clothing, sturdy and comfortable running or gym shoes, daily backpack, wind jacket, polar fleece, headlamp, personal trekking equipment. Beach clothes and towel are recommended. A duffle or soft bag or backpack is better than a trolley or hard bag.
The sailing boat is a classic and comfortable Bavaria 50 feet (15 m). The below deck is divided in 5 cabins: 2 double berth cabins for 4 persons, 3 big bed cabins for 6 persons (single cabins are available on request and with an extra price), 3 bathrooms and fully equipped with bed linen & towels. The boat has a well equipped kitchen and a comfortable living area, a big table with space for all the crew. For the sun protection, there is a big bimini top and a sprayhood. The above deck has the teak wood cover, two steering wheels, a big cockpit table and a rubber dinghy with outboard engine. The boat is registered by the Italian regulatory body The Coastguard Agency of Imperia-Italy (CDP). It is regularly inspected by a Italian surveyor on their behalf (R.I.N.A.-Italian Navy Register ). Her stability conforms to the highest standard class 0, which means she could sail safely anywhere in the world. As safety equipment it carries liferafs, lifejackets, lifebuoys, flares,first aid kit etc in accordance with CDP requirements. As Italian vessel she operates in accordance to art. 49-bis, point 3, ltalian law 171/2005.
